On September 27, 1930, Bobby Jones accomplished the seemingly impossible when he defeated Eugene Homans, 8 and 7. He had won all four of the major tournaments in the same year — the British Amateur at St Andrews, the British Open at Hoylake, the U.S. Open at Interlachen and now the U.S. Amateur at Merion. Jones's walk back to the clubhouse was described by New York Times writer William Richardson as "the most triumphant journey that any man ever traveled in sport."

This captured moment in history is the 11th hole at Merion Golf Club on Sept. 27, 1930.

This 11" x 14" unframed historic photograph has a sepia tone.
