Jack Nicklaus ~ The Open Championship & The Old Course
The "Golden Bear" competed at the old course for the first time in The Open Championship in 1964 and tied for second. The next two Opens to be played in St Andrews where 1970 and 1978 where he would emerge as the champion golfer of the year both times. Jack Nicklaus purposely played his last Open Championship at the old course in 2005. Although he failed to make the cut, he went out in style birdieing the final hole.
