Walter Hagen Concave Wedge
This Hagen sand wedge, covered under Edwin McClain’s December 1928 US patent, features a distinctively curved face and a broad, large sole. Notably, Bobby Jones utilized this model wedge during the 1930 British Open. However, the USGA's 1931 regulation change rendered any club with a concave face non-conforming, leading to Hagen discontinuing production of its concave sand wedge.
Measuring 35 1/4" in length, this particular club remains all original. The chrome is well worn, the grip is long and leather wrapped, and the shaft still has remnants of its original Hagen sticker. Mint clubs of this model are highly collectable and valued at $1300-$1500.
