Stadler, Craig - Autographed Photo
Born: June 2, 1953 in San Diego, CA.
In the second sudden death playoff in Masters history, Craig Stadler's par on the first extra hole gave him the victory over Dan Pohl at the 1982 Masters. After the first nine holes of the final round, Stadler seemed poised for a walk in the park with a six-stroke lead and only nine holes to play. As the saying goes, the tournament does not begin until the back nine on Sunday.
Stadler then proceeded to bogey the 12th, 14th, 16th and 18th; falling back into a tie with Pohl who had already posted 284. Stadler and Pohl headed to the 10th tee where the sudden death playoff would ensue. Stadler gathered himself and hit a solid drive, good second shot and two putted from 40 feet for par. Pohl made bogey. Despite nearly letting it slip away, Craig Stadler was the Masters Champion.
