Hogan, Ben - Augusta National

The Hawk Flies Again

In 1967, a 54-year-old Ben Hogan thrilled the Masters with a record 30 on the back nine at Augusta National. It started with a 7-iron on the 10th hole. Seven feet. Birdie. Ben Hogan then sank putts on the next three holes and the par-5 15th to move under par for the nine. The crowds swelled as the news raced around Augusta National that Hogan, who had last won a tournament seven years earlier, was playing one of the great rounds of his life-one of the great rounds ever. On the 18th green facing a 15 footer for his sixth birdie and an astounding 30 for the back nine, 66 for the day, Hogan dropped the putt before 30,000 anxious spectators. The cheers for the 54 year old were deafening. The echos are with us today.

A Silver Era lithograph print of Hogan at the 1967 Masters by artist Walt Spitzmiller as well as a bold Ben Hogan autograph complete this historic piece of memorabilia.
